The Challenge

Traditional commercial production, location scouting, crew hires, equipment rental, shoot days, post-production timelines, eats budgets and time that a small brand like Kelli's doesn't have. The question was whether 100% generative AI could produce a lifestyle commercial that looked like it went through a real production pipeline. The models had specific failure modes: physical interactions like sawing through rope with a multitool or chess pieces dropping onto a board kept morphing beyond recognition. Temporal consistency within a single scene broke down. No single model could handle every type of shot the script called for, so the pipeline had to be flexible enough to swap tools per scene without losing visual coherence across the full spot.

The Solution

The pipeline rotated between Kling 2.5 Turbo, Seedance 1.5 Pro, and Veo 3.1 Fast, each selected for what it handled best: Kling for product close-ups and controlled environments, Seedance for lifestyle scenes with human movement, and Veo for wide establishing shots. Physical consistency problems got solved through heavy prompt iteration, often dozens of attempts per shot, and selective model switching when one tool hit its limits. AI voice synthesis handled the narration, and the edit followed cinematic pacing conventions to make the generative footage feel like traditional production. Topaz AI upscaling brought the final output to commercial 4K standards. The whole process ran like a compressed version of a traditional shoot: pre-visualization, shot selection, grading, and final delivery, just without cameras.

The Outcome

Three days from concept to final delivery, at about 20% of what a comparable traditional production would cost. Kelli's shared the spot internally with their new management team, and the Mad Man brand owners responded well enough to greenlight additional AI-driven content. The pipeline now functions as a working playbook: new product, new script, same model rotation, finished spot in under a week.
